The Dermal Fillers We Offer
At Tao Wellness Med Spa, we use a selection of JUVÉDERM® hyaluronic acid dermal fillers designed to add volume and address various signs of aging with long-lasting, natural-looking results. Different JUVÉDERM injectables work best for different areas of the face and include:
- JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC – This dermal filler targets lost volume in the lips. By injecting into and around the lips, this filler allows us to replace lost lip volume or simply enhance the fullness of your lips. Treatments can last up to a year before retreatment is necessary.
- JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC – This dermal filler, like ULTRA, targets the lips and the areas around the lips, such as smoker’s lines, lipstick lines, and other lip wrinkles.
- JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC– VOLUMA XC is a dermal filler designed to replace lost volume in the cheeks, as well as the chin. The increase of volume provided in the cheek area provides a midface lift, revealing a much more youthful appearance.
- JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC – This dermal filler targets lines and wrinkles in the face, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, in order to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
At TAO Wellness Med Spa we utilize cosmetics fillers composed of Hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance that delivers volume to the skin. It is a long-lasting, non-surgical option to eliminate wrinkles, plump, hydrate lips, replace soft-tissue volume loss, raise scar depressions, and volumize creases and folds of the face. Cosmetic fillers are for different needs in different areas of the face to achieve the results you want.
The majority of dermal fillers on the market today are gel-like substances containing hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is not an acid at all, but rather a natural sugar produced in the body that helps the skin retain moisture. When this gel is injected into the treatment area, this gel works to fill in fine lines and wrinkles or plump up areas with lost volume.
Treatments typically take under an hour and the results are immediate, though some minor swelling is possible immediately after the procedure. Results are not permanent but can last from months to over a year, depending on the location and the filler used.
What to Expect During Your Filler Treatment
Your dermal filler treatment plan begins with an initial consultation where our specialists will evaluate your facial skin tone and appearance in order to create an individualized treatment plan. Before your treatment, they may mark injection points. Your skin is then cleaned, and an anesthetic ointment is administered if necessary.
At this point, the injection process starts with our specialist injecting, massaging, and evaluating the results as they go in order to determine if additional filler is necessary. Altogether, the injection time can range between 15 minutes and an hour based on how many areas are being treated.
Real Patient Results
Am I a Good Candidate?
Good candidates for dermal fillers will be in good overall health with no underlying medical conditions. In addition, you should be a non-smoker and have realistic goals in mind. In order to maintain optimal results, you want to commit to a healthy skincare routine.
Dermal Filler Results
After your dermal filler treatment, you can experience some slight swelling, but you will also be able to see your results immediately after your treatment. Dermal fillers are not, however, permanent and re-treatment will be necessary to maintain results for the long term.
FAQs
Are dermal fillers safe?
- Bleeding from the injection site
- Skin rash
- Swelling
- Acne-like skin eruptions
- Bruising
- Infection
When should you have your first dermal filler treatments?
Dermal fillers are approved for adults over the age of 21 to treat fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of volume. They can also be used to increase volume, such as in the lips. If you are over 21 and have areas of facial concern, dermal filler treatments can help you achieve your facial goals.
Are dermal filler injections painful?
In most cases, dermal filler injections do not require anesthetic and are very well-tolerated. Many compare the injections to something like a standard vaccine. If you are sensitive to the injections, we will administer a topical anesthetic.
How long do dermal filler results last?
How long your dermal filler treatment lasts depends on what area was treated, which filler was used, and how much filler was used. In general, results will last between 6 months and one year or more before retreatment is necessary to maintain results.
What is the difference between BOTOX® and dermal fillers?
BOTOX® is another form of injectable treatment that works slightly differently and targets different concerns. BOTOX is a neuromodulator, meaning it disrupts the signals from nerves to muscles. BOTOX injections target dynamic wrinkles or those that are caused by facial movements. BOTOX injections relax those muscles, making the wrinkles less noticeable. If you have a combination of facial concerns, you may achieve the best results through a combination of BOTOX and dermal filler injections.
